La Poste - Lettre Prioritaire Internationale. The articles that make up this book present and study different initiatives and approaches geared towards dealing with this period of museological and museographic reinvention.

Tourism and cultural heritage have constituted systems with a high level of interrelation for some decades. Encouraged by a favourable economic situation, politicians, socio-economic stakeholders and cultural managers have promoted the construction of museums, spaces for heritage or have encouraged the valuation of Inaki Urtizberea - Txistu (Vinyl) assets to attract tourists.

However, the formula represented by this slogan has shown itself to be more problematic that its apparently simple message implies. Systems of tourism, heritage and museums are complex by nature, as is the way they interrelate. The articles in this book consider these complex issues, in which a wide and varied numbers of stakeholders behave in line with their values and interests. Los bienes culturales simbolizan las identidades culturales y las memorias colectivas.

Cultural assets symbolise cultural identity and collective memory. Their valuation is a cultural issue, and therefore a social and political one. In present day democratic capitalist societies, the bearers of political powers are generally the ones to manage these cultural processes.

Such powers that be have the necessary legitimacy to guide and direct them. However, as the logic of capitalism, focused on the individual and his or her private interests, transcends the ambit of the market and enters essentially social and cultural terrain, social, collective and public sectors inevitably suffer.

Thus, solely political legitimacy in heritage and museum initiatives may well be insufficient in today's world. Social legitimacy is also required.

The works presented in this book deal with this and other types of legitimation, based on initiatives in Iberian Peninsula and America. En la Concretamente se abordan tres aspectos. En primer lugar, los museos como instrumentos favorecedores del desarrollo local y fortalecedores de la identidad local.

This work consists of three sections in which lecturers, researchers and specialists discuss the process of providing heritage status to culture and nature based on specific experiences in Europe and America. In the first part, the subject of study is the museum and considers three aspects. Firstly, the museum as an instrument that encourages and strengthens local development and identity. Secondly, the boom of museums in recent years and its relationship with tourism.

Finally, the implementation of networks and their advantages and disadvantages. The second part considers the issue of natural parks and the close, unavoidable link between culture and nature, and cultural and natural heritage. The last parts deals with a highly specific and necessary issue in the field of heritage and museums: the need for closer relations between universities and local agents. Se suele afirmar que hay dos tipos de patrimonio cultural.

The work presented in this book describe and analyse activation processes of the second type of heritage: the interests and valuations that lead to the provision of heritage status or value of a set of cultural goods, that agents have participated in this Inaki Urtizberea - Txistu (Vinyl) why, what for and how they have done it.

There is more interest in the modus operandi than in the opus operatum. Written by lecturers, researchers, specialists and technicians, the works in this publication present a series of European and American experiences, and show a diverse and complex landscape of the fields of museums and heritage, as well as the different approaches according to the position occupies by the author with regard to cultural property.

Several decades have passed since the New Museology brought about a revolution in museums and cultural heritage. Cultural democracy, community, territory, awareness-raising, dialogue and multi-disciplinary approaches were concepts and principles that the theorists and ideologues of this new current in museology brought to this field.

They criticised, highlighted or replaced the criteria that fed traditional museology and the historical-artistic heritage. Decades later these same revolutionaries are in turn the object of criticism as to their relationship and relevance in modern times. This book considers one of those new principles in particular: that of the participation of citizens in heritage and museum projects.

Nowadays, there is unanimity in the fields of theory and discourse on the issue: communities and citizens must take part in the initiatives that give value to their cultural heritage.

In practice, assuming and applying this principle is a more problematic matter. Even more so in these times of the encouragement of individualism, compulsive consumerism, spectacle, simplification and the ephemeral. Using specific cases, the authors of this book describe and analyse the limits, potentials, and possibilities for citizens' participation in museums and heritage.

This book brings together eight articles about the valuation of museum and heritage collections. All share one basic premise: heritage and museum projects are not activated solely by criteria defined by history or art. Financial, political, social values, and even those of identity raised by different stakeholders come into play and should be acknowledged if this subject in all its complexity is to be done justice.

The reader shall not find highly theoretical and abstract reflections and proposals in this book on the foundations that give legitimacy to the valuation of collections. On Inaki Urtizberea - Txistu (Vinyl) contrary, he will find descriptions of specific cases and thoughts about them written by university lecturers and government technicians as well as by local agents closely linked to the heritage and museum initiatives described in their articles.

This is the aim of this book, to use specific cases to show the complexities inherent to heritage and museum collections. In recent years there has been a tremendous Inaki Urtizberea - Txistu (Vinyl) in the number of museums in the region. Such an increase can be explained if it is linked to the socio-cultural and economic context that has driven it and given it legitimacy.

The work presented in this book considers this link, focusing mainly on two areas. On the one hand the dimension of identity, museums as spaces for representing collective identity and memory, and on the other, the economic dimension: museums as poles of attraction for cultural tourism. Using a wide range of theoretical and methodological approaches, with different aims in mind, with different levels of feeling and involvement expressed through different narratives, the authors of this book present us with their approaches to the world of museums and their relationship with these two areas.

This current condition of our world has involved the breakdown of notions such as time, community, borders, and places. Liquid times have also affected the processes through which we think of cultural heritage and, by extension, heritage production. Both cultural heritage and heritage production have become more fluid concepts by comparisons to how these were approached during solid, modern times. Has PDF. Publication Type.
